Event to attract more than 300 industry leaders with the aim of fostering exchanges of ideas and insights AMMAN: The World Social Media Forum will take place on Thursday in Amman. The theme for the event is “Building a Flexible and Sustainable Media Sector,” and it is expected to attract more than 300 leading industry figures to discuss the evolution of the media landscape. The forum will include panel discussions and interactive sessions with the aim of fostering exchanges of ideas and insights, organizers said. One notable focus of the forum will be Jordan’s role in the international community and its royal diplomatic initiatives, in particular the ways in which they have influenced global views of Israel’s military actions in Gaza, the Jordan News Agency reported on Tuesday. It will also highlight the nation’s humanitarian efforts in the region, including the work of Royal Jordanian Air Force to deliver medical supplies to Gaza during the conflict, and the important role this has played in drawing international attention to the urgent need for more-accessible land and air routes for aid deliveries. Participants at the forum will also discuss the ways in which social media is influencing and shaping global public opinions. In particular, they will explore the evolution of Arab media, its growing importance in the digital age, and innovative strategies for the distribution of news through social media platforms. The role of journalism in conflict zones will be another key topic for discussion, including the challenges and ethical responsibilities journalists face while working in high-risk environments, the importance of responsible reporting in such situations, and the wider complexities of front-line journalism.
