Sources close to the club say the Brazilian’s departure is amicable Brazilian goalkeeper Marcelo Grohe left out of the Jeddah club’s Roshn Saudi League roster JEDDAH: Igor Coronado’s time at Al-Ittihad has ended after the Brazilian midfielder came to a financial settlement with the reigning Roshn Saudi Pro League champions, Arriyadiyah reported on Wednesday. The Arabic-language sports daily quoted sources close to the club who said that the negotiations were carried out in an amicable spirit. The sources said that Coronado had requested the termination of his contract when Ittihad’s Argentine coach Marcelo Gallardo informed the player that he would not be selected for the club’s domestic and continental fixtures. Coronado had renewed his contract with Al-Ittihad a year ago, which would have taken him to 2025. Meanwhile, Ittihad goalkeeper and Coronado’s compatriot, Marcelo Grohe, will continue to train with the first team despite not being part of the squad for the rest of the Saudi Pro League season. The 37-year-old stopper, who joined the club in 2019, could still however be called up for the AFC Champions League. Al-Ittihad will complete the 2023/2024 season with the following foreign players: Ahmed Hegazi (Egypt), Luiz Felipe (Italy), Karim Benzema (France), N’Golo Kante (France), Romarinho (Brazil), Fabinho (Brazil), Jota (Portugal) and Abderrazak Hamdallah (Morocco).
