Ipswich missed the chance to climb back to the top of the Championship after being held to a goalless draw by Watford. Four days after losing to Norwich at Carrow Road, the Tractor Boys once again failed to find the net but they did extend their unbeaten home league run to 19 games. Kieran McKenna’s side did move into second place, one point above Leeds, but are separated from leaders Leicester, who have a game in hand, by goal difference. West Brom consolidated fifth place with a 2-0 win over relegated Rotherham at the Hawthorns. Brandon Thomas-Asante nudged the Baggies in front in the 23rd minute and John Swift doubled their advantage from the spot just before half-time. Hull and Middlesbrough saw their playoff hopes dented after sharing a 2-2 draw at the MKM Stadium. Emmanuel Latte Lath put Boro ahead early on but Jaden Philogene and Jean Michael Seri - his first goal since July 2022 - helped Hull go in front only for Finn Azaz to level in the 71st minute. At the other end, Birmingham failed to climb out of the relegation zone following a 1-0 defeat by Cardiff at St Andrew’s. Josh Bowler scored the winner in the 65th minute to leave Blues second from bottom, a point adrift of Huddersfield in 21st place. Swansea boosted their chances of staying up and left Stoke anxiously looking over their shoulder after a 3-0 win at the Swansea.com Stadium. Liam Cullen opened the scoring in the 19th minute and Matt Grimes added a second from the penalty spot eight minutes after the break before Josh Key rounded off the scoring 17 minutes from time. Blackburn’s relegation worries deepened after being thrashed 5-0 at Bristol City. Tommy Conway’s first-half double, the second from the penalty spot, put the Robins in control and Anis Mehmeti notched a third just moments after stepping off the substitutes’ bench. Fellow substitute Nahki Wells made it 4-0 from the spot five minutes later before grabbing his second in stoppage time.
