The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia participated in the "camel parade" held Saturday in the French capital, Paris. Organized by the French Federation for the Development of Camelids in France and Europe, the event commemorates the United Nations" designation of 2024 as the "International Year of Camelids." The parade, held under the auspices of the International Camel Organization and sponsored by the Saudi Ministry of Culture and the Camel Club of the Kingdom, brought together a diverse range of international organizations, government representatives, camel breeders, and enthusiasts. Saudi Arabia"s participation served to introduce the international community to the Kingdom"s "Year of the Camel 2024" initiative. This initiative aims to highlight the camel"s significance as a cultural symbol deeply embedded in Saudi society since ancient times, and its continued importance today. Marking its third iteration, the camel march returned to the streets of Paris for the first time since 1926. The route traversed past the historic Château de Vincennes, a former royal palace dating back to the 12th century and now a renowned landmark attracting visitors worldwide. Over 30 countries participated in the march, showcasing more than fifty camels and traditional performances. These participating nations included the United States, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain, Canada, India, Morocco, and many others. The day preceding the parade saw the holding of dialogue sessions at the Château de Janvry Historical Center. These sessions focused on exchanging knowledge and celebrating global camel heritage. Presentations highlighted each country"s contributions to the International Year of Camelids 2024. The sessions concluded with a reception for invited guests, including representatives of international organizations, academia, research centers, the private sector, delegations from participating countries, and the media. The Kingdom"s participation extends from its instrumental role in launching the International Year of Camelids 2024 through the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). This initiative underscores Saudi Arabia"s unwavering commitment to developing the camel sector, recognizing its potential to contribute to food security and economic growth. The Ministry of Culture"s participation in this international event reflects its multifaceted goals. It aims to contribute to the International Year of Camelids, introduce the "Year of the Camel 2024" initiative, and showcase the rich cultural and social significance of camels to Saudi Arabia. It also seeks to raise public awareness regarding the economic and cultural value of camels, emphasizing their enduring importance in the lives of many communities. Ultimately, Saudi Arabia"s participation embodies the Ministry"s commitment to fostering international cultural exchange, aligning with the strategic objectives of the Kingdom"s Vision 2030. — SPA
