The Saudi Fashion Commission has unveiled "The Lab," the first studio of its kind in Saudi Arabia dedicated to fashion product development. The launch event, held at the studio"s headquarters in Mohammed bin Salman Nonprofit City, also known as Misk City, in Riyadh, was attended by officials, industry specialists, media representatives, and government entities. Burak Cakmak, CEO of the Fashion Commission, highlighted that The Lab marks a significant advancement for the Kingdom"s fashion industry, being uniquely situated in the heart of Riyadh. The studio is designed to streamline the fashion manufacturing process, providing local designers and brands with the necessary resources to realize their creative visions effectively. Cakmak emphasized that The Lab not only fosters innovation but also supports sustainable practices within the industry. "This initiative represents a qualitative leap and an unprecedented effort in the fashion sector in the Kingdom," he stated. The Lab is equipped with advanced infrastructure and cutting-edge technologies that enhance manufacturing capabilities and foster innovation. Additionally, The Lab offers local designers and businesses the opportunity to label their creations with the “Made in Riyadh” brand, aiming to promote local talents on both a national and international stage. David Henry, CEO of Misk City, explained that The Lab is set to become a significant landmark that will elevate the fashion industry in Saudi Arabia. He underscored Misk City"s role in promoting national retail brands and supporting the development of small and medium-sized enterprises in the fashion sector. The partnership between the Fashion Commission and Misk City at The Lab aims to enhance the development of the fashion sector, supporting educational and training programs for young Saudi designers and opening new investment avenues in the fashion industry.
