RIYADH: Saudi Arabia is preparing to launch its pavilion at the 2024 Beijing International Book Fair, where it will serve as the guest of honor. The fair will be held from June 19 to June 23 in Beijing, the Saudi Press Agency reported.  Supervised by the Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission, the Kingdom’s participation aims to showcase Saudi culture to the Chinese public, foster knowledge exchange between the two nations, and strengthen cooperation in literature and the arts.  The Kingdom’s pavilion will feature contributions from multiple sectors, including the Heritage Commission, the Culinary Arts Commission, and the Film Commission. Additionally, the Ministry of Investment, the King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives, the King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language, the King Abdulaziz Public Library, the King Fahd National Library, and the Publishing Association will be participating. The participation seeks to present a comprehensive picture of Saudi culture, showcasing intellectual production and highlighting national talent. It also aims to promote investment opportunities in the Kingdom, particularly within the cultural sector. The program will include a variety of cultural events, such as seminars and dialogue sessions, discussing Saudi culture and its various connections to Chinese culture. Additional events will be held on the sidelines of the participation, including a Saudi dinner night, a special exhibition of books, manuscripts and artifacts, live performances of traditional arts, a fashion show, artistic paintings and screenings of Saudi films. There will also be a section dedicated to the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Award for Cultural Cooperation between the Kingdom and China, as well as special areas for partners of the Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission from various centers and associations.
