An Indonesian Hajj pilgrim underwent a successful open-heart surgery at the Madinah Cardiac Center. This was the first open-heart surgery performed at the center during the current Hajj season. After recovery, the pilgrim was discharged from the center in good health to continue his Hajj rituals, the Saudi Press Agency reported. The Madinah Health Cluster stated that the pilgrim in his 60s arrived at the center’s emergency department after suffering from severe chest pain. A heart attack was diagnosed after conducting medical tests and scanning. The medical team at the center immediately decided to perform a diagnostic catheterization, which revealed a severe blockage in all three coronary arteries. Subsequently, the medical team decided to perform open-heart surgery and graft new arteries taken from the patient’s chest arteries, along with a vein from his leg, using an endoscope. The Health Cluster said that the patient was transferred to the intensive care unit to complete his treatment plan. His condition improved, and he was moved to the inpatient ward for follow-up and rehabilitation.
