The Saudi Embassy in Cairo has confirmed on Wednesday the death of the Saudi citizen Hattan Shata who had been missing for over a month. “We had received a report from the Egyptian authorities stating that a body of the missing citizen had been found, and a DNA sample was subsequently taken to confirm his death,” the embassy said in a statement adding that there was no criminal suspicion in his death. The embassy offered its condolences to the family of the deceased. The embassy also expressed its thanks and appreciation to the Egyptian authorities for their tireless efforts to remove the mystery behind the young man’s disappearance. Meanwhile, Hani Shata, brother of Hattan Shata, said that his brother was found dead. A statement by the Egyptian Ministry of Interior confirmed that efforts to search for the missing person resulted in the discovery of his body, and investigations and medical examinations indicated that there was no criminal suspicion behind his death. Hattan’s death was the result of the repercussions of his poor health conditions, and the brother of the deceased and the Saudi embassy have been informed of all the details, according to a statement by the Egyptian security authorities. Okaz sources had previously reported that the Egyptian authorities found the body in a street, examined it, and then found that the death was natural without any criminal suspicion. According to the sources, Hattan left his apartment in the Al-Rehab area, east of Cairo, leaving all his belongings behind him at his residence while communications with him were cut off. The Egyptian security services issued a circular with the citizen’s data and photo and sent it to all governorates and security directorates as part of the search operation. The authorities searched for Hattan in the nearby cities as well as within October 6 and Sheikh Zayed areas, and asked Egyptian citizens to contact the police over phone if they managed to locate him. The Saudi Embassy in Cairo had announced in an official statement that since the first day of the disappearance of Hattan, it had begun its procedures and communications with the officials and the Egyptian security authorities in Egypt.
