Supplementary statement by Saudi embassy in Spain regarding death of Saudi citizen Omar Al-Mutairi

Madrid, Sha'ban 06, 1439, April 22, 2018, SPA -- Supplementing the statement issued by the Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Spain on Friday on the results of the investigations issued by the Spanish Civil Guard on the disappearance of citizen Omar bin Salman Al-Mutairi; in which the embassy quoted the summary of the report of the findings by the competent Spanish bodies; and which was handed over to the brothers of the missing in the Court of Cartagena in the Murcia region, the embassy wishes to report that the lawyer assigned by the embassy met on Saturday morning in Barcelona with the brothers of the missing, Meshary and Kamal Al-Mutairi, in the presence of embassy officials. The brothers of the missing confirmed their desire for the lawyer to take the necessary legal action towards the contents of the results of the investigation, including the review of security and safety procedures at the ship at the time of the incident. According to the statement, the embassy officials also conveyed to the lawyer the embassy's support for the demands of the brothers and the family of the missing and to provide them with full support. The embassy will follow up on the necessary legal procedures that will begin next Monday (April 23rd) by the lawyer before the competent court in Barcelona and communicate with the family of the missing and brief them on what is happening continuously. The statement pointed out that the Saudi Ambassador to Spain telephoned the brothers of the missing, Meshary and Kamal, and informed them of his full support for them and the legal procedures they requested from the lawyer in charge and to confirm that he stands by their side in this painful situation, stressing to them that their calamity is shared by the embassy which mobilizes all its capabilities to serve them and is doing everything in its power to follow up this issue and give it the most attention and care.
