Al-Ibrahim meets with Dalian mayor eying greater Saudi-Sino cooperation

Minister of Economy and Planning Faisal Al-Ibrahim met with the Mayor of the Chinese city of Dalian, Chen Shawang, on the sidelines of the annual meeting of the New Champions of the World Economic Forum, which was held in the Chinese city from 25 27 June. Al-Ibrahim also met with Professor Klaus Schwab, founder and CEO of the World Economic Forum, to discuss ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries and topics of common interest. He also met with Minister of Economic Affairs of Malaysia Rafizi Ramli to discuss economic collaboration in various sectors between their countries, including bilateral agreements. During the meeting, they discussed enhancing cooperation between the two countries in diverse areas and the latest global economic developments. Al-Ibrahim said on the X platform: Delighted to be in Dalian, China, for the Annual Meeting of the New Champions 2024 of the World Economic Forum. I look forward to engaging with our international partners to work toward policies that can lead to more inclusive economic development amid complex global challenges, and advancing partnerships for bold innovation in science and technology as the Kingdom becomes a platform for innovators and changemakers. “We’re at the halftime mark with #SaudiVision2030,” Al-Ibrahim said, speaking on Saudi Arabia’s priorities for the year ahead #AMNC24. Saudi Arabia is playing a key role in energy security and climate action under its role as a global citizen, he added. He also said: “Women’s participation in the workforce in Saudi Arabia has doubled, which has contributed to advancing economic and social development.” Al-Ibrahim said: “Saudi Arabia has a lot to offer for players from around the world to set up shop and accelerate the advancement of Artificial Intelligence” The minister explained the importance of international cooperation in developing artificial intelligence. He said: “Saudi Arabia has high potential and an ideal environment to attract AI experts from all over the world, which contributes to accelerating the pace of progress in this field.”
