Cyriel Dessers and Rabbi Matondo both grabbed doubles as rampant Rangers routed Ross County 6-0. Nigeria striker Dessers scored after 18 minutes with a clinical finish and winger Matondo added a neat second just before the interval. Dessers poached a third in the 58th minute for his fifth goal in six outings this season and, after Tom Lawrence notched in the 65th minute, Matondo grabbed his brace with a close-range finish, with substitute Danilo adding a late sixth. It was a convincing win for Philippe Clement’s side and a boost ahead of the Old Firm game next week where they will, however, find Celtic several levels superior to County, who were out of their depth. Dundee forward Simon Murray scored a late equaliser to deny Hibernian a maiden league win of the season in a dramatic 2-2 draw at Easter Road. Dundee, eyeing a first victory away to the Hibees since 2001, started strongly and went ahead through Scott Tiffoney, but goals from Martin Boyle and substitute Kieron Bowie swung the match in favour of the home team. However, just as David Gray looked to be on course for his first league win since being appointed permanent manager of the Edinburgh side in June, Murray, who spent the 2017-18 season at Hibs, struck in the 88th minute. Dundee United earned their first three points of the season with a 2-0 win over St Johnstone at Tannadice. After a turgid opening half, Liverpool loanee Luca Stephenson put the home side ahead in the 54th minute, putting the opener away on the rebound. The visitors then had Adama Sidibeh sent off six minutes from full time, before a Jack Saunders own goal sealed the contest. Scotland forward Kevin Nisbet could make his Aberdeen debut at home to Kilmarnock after joining on a season-long loan from Millwall. The 27-year-old has returned to the Premiership just over a year after the Lions bought him from Hibs. Nisbet’s first season at The Den was undermined by injury and a “disciplinary issue” in May, and he did not make the Scotland squad for Euro 2024. He is hoping to help Aberdeen – who have won all seven competitive matches under Jimmy Thelin – maintain their strong start to the season. “As soon as I knew Aberdeen were interested it was a no-brainer, to be honest,” he told the Dons official website. “I did have options down south and with other teams in Scotland but the way the team have started the season, I wanted to get involved.” Aberdeen recently sold talismanic striker Bojan Miovski to Girona and Thelin is excited about adding Nisbet, who has more than 100 career goals to his name, to his squad. “Kevin is a fantastic addition for us,” he said. “His appetite and desire to come to Aberdeen and be part of what we are building here was really pleasing.”
