US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed Friday that a raid conducted by its forces in collaboration with Iraq resulted in the deaths of 14 Daesh/ISIS operatives on August 29. The operation, which targeted Daesh/ISIS leaders, aimed to disrupt and degrade the terror group’s capacity to plan, organize, and execute attacks against Iraqi civilians, as well as US citizens, allies, and partners throughout the region and beyond. CENTCOM released a statement detailing the operation’s outcomes. The raid eliminated four high-ranking ISIS leaders: Ahmad Hamid Husayn Abd-al-Jalil al-Ithawi, who was responsible for all operations in Iraq; Abu Hammam, who oversaw all operations in Western Iraq; Abu-‘Ali al-Tunisi, who managed technical development; and Shakir Abud Ahmad al-Issawi, who was in charge of military operations in Western Iraq.
