The Ministry of Health announced the arrest of two people for practicing the medical profession without a license, in the Hail region. They included a Saudi woman and an Arab national who also engaged in advertising this on a number of social media platforms. The accused were referred to the Public Prosecution to take the necessary legal procedures against them. The ministry stated that the female citizen’s violation involved her false claim through posts on social media that she was practicing traditional medicine and mixtures, as well as treatment of infertility, glands, and clots without obtaining a license to practice the profession. The ministry noted that the Arab national was found to have claimed in an advertisement posted on social media that he was practicing the profession of a specialist to treat speech and learning difficulties without having a license to practice the profession. The ministry urged the public to receive health services only from health facilities and practitioners authorized by it, as well as to avoid those who claim to treat patients through luring via social media platforms. “Such unauthorized treatments, practices or mixtures would be harmful to their health and would expose their safety to risks,” the ministry said while warning against advertising health violations in the media and social media without a license. The ministry stressed that punitive measures will be taken against such violators. This comes within the efforts of the Ministry of Health to tighten control over harmful practices on social media platforms. The ministry is carrying out field and electronic inspections to ensure patient safety as well as to preserve public health
