Aberdeen’s wretched Scottish Premiership form continued unabated as the Dons fell to their ninth defeat in the last 13 league matches against a clinical St Mirren side. The home side were the better for most of the game, but poor defending from Slobodan Rubezic cost them two first-half goals, Toyosi Olusanya scoring the first and setting up the second for Mickael Mandron. Mandron added a third late in the game to secure the 3-0 win. January signings Elton Kabangu and Jamie McCart both scored on their Tynecastle debuts as on-form Hearts eked out a 3-2 home win over Kilmarnock to climb from 11th to ninth in the league. On-loan Union Saint-Gilloise striker Kabangu gave the hosts a 1-0 interval lead with his third goal in two games, and defender McCart restored their advantage shortly after Killie’s Bobby Wales equalised early in the second half. Jorge Grant’s header ultimately proved decisive, with Fraser Murray’s reply for the visitors ensuring a nervy finale for Neil Critchley’s resurgent side. Ross County once again left it late to secure a result against Hibernian as they drew 1-1. The Hibees had taken the lead shortly before half-time courtesy of Dylan Levitt, not long after Jordan White had missed from the spot for the hosts, but an 86th-minute penalty from Ronan Hale levelled the scores. St Johnstone scored two dramatic late goals in the 2-1 home win over Motherwell. Strikes from substitute Taylor Steven and Bozo Mikulic within the space of two minutes turned the game on its head. Simo Valakari’s side cut the gap at the bottom of the table to seven points, with Kilmarnock now the closest club in their sights. Celtic’s Premiership match against Dundee on Saturday was postponed following storm damage to the club’s stadium. Storm Éowyn brought winds of up to 100mph in central Scotland on Friday and a Met Office red weather warning of danger to life. A statement from Celtic, who hold a 13-point lead over Rangers, on Saturday morning read: “Today’s scheduled Scottish Premiership match between Celtic and Dundee at Celtic Park has been called off. Unfortunately, due to the stadium damage sustained yesterday we have been advised that we are unable to proceed with today’s match. “While clearly this is disappointing, the safety of our supporters will always be our priority. The rearranged fixture will take place on February 5, 2025 with a 7.45pm kick-off.”
