Trump Condemns Houthi Ballistic Missile Attack

US President Donald Trump condemned on Thursday the attempt staged by Houthi militias to target Riyadh with a ballistic missile. Trump expressed his stance in a phone call with Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA). More so, the two leaders discussed holding the Iranian regime "accountable for its transgressions." "Houthi attacks against the people of Yemen and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia happen with the backing of the Iranian regime, which supports and funds militias and provides them with qualitative weapons, ammunition and ballistic missiles," said Saudi Ambassador to Yemen Mohammed Al Jaber. King Salman and Trump also discussed measures on implementing relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions to hold the Iranian regime accountable for hostile actions and providing militias in Yemen with missiles to threaten the security and stability of Saudi Arabia and the region. Trump fully expressed his countrys condemnation of the recent Houthi missile and labeled it as a criminal act. He also considered it a blatant attack on the Kingdoms sovereignty and renounced its targeting a populated area. The two leaders also stressed the need to support all relief and humanitarian operations in order to alleviate the suffering of Yemeni people. King Salman bin Abdulaziz telephoned British Prime Minister Theresa May, who also condemned the United Kingdoms attempt to target the city of Riyadh with a ballistic missile. May also assured King Salman her countrys deep concern for the kingdom’s security in the Kingdom and the region. The British PM also stressed the importance of recognizing the Iranian threat to peace and stability in the region, while backing efforts of humanitarian operations and relief to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people.
