US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson telephoned on Tuesday Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi to stress Washington’s commitment to the country’s security, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA). The American official voiced Washington and the international community’s backing of Baghdad’s efforts to bolster security. An Iraqi government statement said that Tillerson told Abadi that the US will continue to back Iraq’s efforts to attract investment and achieve economic reform. It also stands by its reconstruction efforts, added the statement. Moreover, Tillerson expressed his confidence in Iraq’s ability to completely destroy terrorism, offering his condolences over the victims of Monday’s twin suicide bombings in Baghdad.
