The Arab Coalition to restore legitimacy in Yemen welcomed on Monday any international efforts aimed at restoring peace in the war-torn country. Spokesman for the Coalition Turki al-Maliki said during a press conference in Riyadh that these efforts fall in line with the principles of the members of the alliance that are committed to the Yemeni people on the humanitarian and military levels. Comprehensive humanitarian operations in Yemen are being implemented according to plan and they are gradually increasing, he continued. He revealed that the contracts of three new initiatives will be signed on Tuesday. The agreements should present a new humanitarian outlet in Yemen. The spokesman then provided an update of the latest results of the humanitarian plan in the country, saying that 554,037 Yemenis have so far benefited from it. A total of 18,557 humanitarian permits have been granted by the Coalition to Yemen from March 26, 2015 to date. Maliki stressed that the Arab Coalition is committed to backing the Yemeni army in liberating the remaining land from the insurgents. It will also stand against militia attempts to violate Saudi Arabia, he vowed. He condemned the Iranian-backed Houthis for targeting the private property of the people, saying that it demonstrates the terrorist group’s lack of humanity and disregard of all international laws.
