Running until Aug. 24, the course aims to develop knowledge and enhance trainees’ maritime security skills JEDDAH: Eighteen trainees from 17 countries took part in the eighth international training course hosted by Border Guards to dispense advice on enforcing the law at sea. The course is organized by the Ministry of Interior in cooperation with the International Maritime Organization at the Mohammed bin Naif Academy for Maritime Science and Security Studies in Jeddah. Running until Aug. 24, the course aims to develop knowledge and enhance trainees’ maritime security skills. A Border Guards spokesman said that there was one trainee from Bahrain and 17 from other signatory states to the Jeddah amendment to the Djibouti Code of Conduct 2017. The amendment to the code on tackling maritime piracy in the Western Indian Ocean and the Gulf of Aden covers transnational organized crime and suppressing maritime terrorism. A workshop will also be held to discuss and approve ways of implementing the Jeddah amendment.
