Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmed al-Jaber al-Sabah received at the Dasman Palace on Monday Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and an accompanying delegation. The Qatari Emir congratulated Sheikh Sabah on the advent of the Muslim holy fasting month of Ramadan, reported the Kuwait news agency (KUNA). “The two sides exchanged friendly talks on a variety of issues, which reflected the depth of brotherly relations between the two nations and peoples,” it said. The officials discussed means of promoting bilateral ties in all fields to serve mutual interests and support joint Gulf action, within the framework of the deep-rooted and historical relations among Gulf Cooperation Council member-states. They also tackled the latest regional and international developments. National Assembly Speaker Marzouq al-Ghanim, Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber al-Mubarak al-Hamad Al-Sabah and senior state officials attended the meeting. Sheikh Sabah held an iftar banquet at Dasman Palace in honor of the visiting Emir and his accompanying delegation. Sheikh Tamim had paid a similar visit to Kuwait during Ramadan in 2017. In April, Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khalid al-Hamad al-Sabah had delivered a message from the Emir to Sheikh Tamim. He handed the message during a tour that included Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Oman. Kuwait is making mediation efforts to end the crisis between Qatar and Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain and Egypt. In June 2017, the four countries severed ties with Doha and imposed "punitive measures" after accusing it of supporting terrorism.
