Gulf Cooperation Council Secretary General Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid al-Zayani met on Monday with Yemeni Foreign Minister Khalid al-Yamani in Riyadh. The two officials discussed the latest developments in Yemen, the governments efforts to bolster stability, security and reconstruction in the liberated regions and efforts to deliver humanitarian aid. They expressed their support for the statement issued by the Saudi-led Arab coalition to support legitimacy in Yemen on a recent report by the UN Secretary General, which contained false information about children who lost their lives in Yemen’s conflict. Zayani and Yamani stressed the importance that these reports be based on documented information and reliable sources. They added that the UN should not obtain its information from sides with questionable credibility and who are seeking to provide UN agencies with false data to serve their political objectives. On the human rights situation in Yemen and violations committed by the Iran-backed Houthi militias, Zayani affirmed the GCCs support to the Yemeni government in its efforts to restore legitimacy and preserve the security, stability and sovereignty of the country. He briefed Yamani on the reconstruction programs financed by the GCC countries in Yemen through joint cooperation and coordination between the government and the Gulf development funds.
