Yemeni Prime Minister Ahmed bin Daghr handed to UN Envoy Martin Griffiths the response of the legitimate government to his proposal on the situation in Hodeidah city, which he had made to President Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi during his visit to Aden two weeks ago. In a meeting with the envoy in Riyadh on Sunday, bin Dagher stressed that before the start of new talks with the insurgents, Houthis must show goodwill by releasing all detainees and captives held in their prisons. He demanded for the Houthis to "facilitate the arrival of humanitarian aid" in provinces that fall under their control. The Prime Minister said that the Houthis should also hand over their arms and withdraw from the capital Sanaa and other towns under their control. Sunday’s meeting was attended by the Presidents advisors Abdulwahab al-Anesi, Saleh Obeid and Mohammad al-Ameri. Bin Daghr praised the efforts of the UN envoy for peace, which is based on the three references, the GCC Initiative and Its implementation Mechanism, the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference and UN Resolution 2216. He renewed his call on the UN to put pressure on Iran to stop its interference in Yemens affairs, ban the smuggling of weapons including ballistic missiles to the Houthis, and for the insurgents to abide by international laws. For his part, Griffiths said the UN would work in consultation with different parties to bring viewpoints closer in line with the three peace references, in addition to humanitarian issues of affected Yemeni people.
