JEDDAH: The deputy chairman of the Committee of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, Dr. Abdul Ghaffar A’lem Zadah, on Sunday lauded the Kingdom’s efforts under the leadership of King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to provide relief to the people in distress all over the world. He expressed these views in a press statement released after the departure of Dr. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Samil, an undersecretary of the Saudi Islamic Affairs Ministry. Al-Samil was on an official visit to Tajikistan. Since its establishment in 2015, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSRelief) has implemented 469 projects in 42 countries worldwide. Tajikistan is the second-biggest recipient of KSRelief aid after Yemen. The center has helped people affected by earthquakes and floods in Tajikistan, and cooperated with the Tajik Red Crescent and other bodies to implement several important projects. KSRelief gave the country 50 tons of dates as a gift from the Saudi government, and is donating state-of-the-art equipment to the Committee of Emergency Situations and Civil Defense in Tajikistan. Recently, KSRelief signed agreements with Tajikistan’s Emergency and Civil Defense Committee and the Land Reclamation and Irrigation Agency to support relief projects for people affected by seasonal floods and other natural disasters. Under the agreement, the center will extend financial assistance for the purchase of necessary equipment and formation of rapid response teams.
