Saudi Arabia is one of the world’s top sponsors of humanitarian aid and relief campaigns. Regardless of race or religion, the kingdom has dispatched aid, charity and relief missions of all sorts to ailed countries damaged by war or climatic catastrophe. The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSRelief), the Saudi oversight body for the state’s humanitarian programs, has provided aid to 44 different countries across the world. Total given aid amounts to $3.25 billion spent over 996 humanitarian projects covering, food and water security, shelter, education, environmental and social aid. Receiving $1.99 billion, Yemen is the biggest beneficiary of KSRelief programs. The aid group has carried out 330 projects, such as building and equipping schools and sending food baskets regularly, in the war-torn country. In 2018, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) prepared a humanitarian response plan for Yemen, estimated at $3.12 billion, of which 85.3% was funded by donors at $2.65 billion. Saudi Arabia was the largest donor, pledging a total of $541.60 million, nearly 20.4% of the whole plan’s quota. The Kingdom was the first to fund the Yemen Humanitarian Response Plan in 2018, providing a total of $11.88 billion since the beginning of the crisis. It also carried out vital projects for the war-riddled neighboring country. Saudi missions included the rehabilitation of Houthi-recruited child soldiers and demining sweeps of civilian areas. With $352.9 million across 78 projects to its record, Palestine is the second-largest beneficiary of KSrelief programs. Syria ranks third with $267.1 million. Despite great challenges facing KSRelief, within the few years its been founded, the organization was able to tackle major issues and secure itself spot alongside international community relief institutions. KSRelief’s exceptional partnership building gave its global outreach programs a boost, helping it to further lessen the suffering of peoples and support the prosperity and development of the individual in target communities. .
