Dr. Nahar bin Mezki Al-Azemi, secretary-general of the Saudi Health Council

Dr. Nahar bin Mezki Al-Azemi has been the secretary-general of the Saudi Health Council since November 2018.  He was the chief medical officer of Aldara Hospital and Medical Center in Riyadh between December 2015 and November 2018 and had a seven-month stint as a deputy assistant minister at the Ministry of Health prior to that. Al-Azemi has experience in leading health institutions in the Kingdom. He was the founding CEO of Prince Mohammed Medical City, between 2012 and 2015, an executive director at King Fahd Medical City in Riyadh, and the founding director of the Emergency and Employee Health Administration. He was director of the Education and Research Center at the North West Armed Forces Hospital between 2003 and 2004 in Tabuk, and established the first nursing school at Prince Khalid bin Sultan Medical Education and Research Center in Tabuk while he was director between 2000 and 2004. Al-Azemi received his bachelor’s degree in the field of surgery from King Saud University in Riyadh. He holds a diploma in child health from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and an executive master’s from Washington University in St. Louis. The General Secretariat of the Saudi Health Council, represented by the National Health Information Center, organized a workshop on Sunday to discuss and present the center’s current functions, its strategic objectives and future vision as well as its role in activating and developing digital health projects in the Kingdom. Al-Azemi stressed the importance of coordination between the Kingdom’s different health sectors to ensure that citizens and residents received distinguished services.
