Dr. Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah, Saudi minister of health

Dr. Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah has been the Saudi minister of health since May 2016. Al-Rabiah holds a bachelor’s degree in quantitative methods from King Saud University, a master’s degree in both computer science and information science from the University of Pittsburgh, and a Ph.D. in computer science from the same university. Prior to his current position, Al-Rabiah was chairman of the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization, chairman of the board of the Saudi Industrial Property Authority and minister of commerce and industry between 2011 to 2016. He also served as supervisor of the National Industrial Clusters Development Program and was in charge of industry affairs at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry from 2010 to 2012. Between 2007 and 2012, he was the general director of information and communication technology at the Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority. He is also a member of the Council of Ministers, Council of Economic and Development Affairs, Hajj Supreme Committee, National Committee for Narcotics Control and Civil Defense. Al-Rabiah has published 16 of his papers in international journals and participated in drafting the Saudi National Transformation Program. Recently, he announced the success of the Hajj season’s  health plans. He said that the Ministry of Health had prepared early for this year’s Hajj season as per the directives of King Salman and the crown prince.
