The Saudi-led Arab coalition slammed on Thursday the Iran-backed Houthi militias for their continued use of naval mines, after three fishermen were killed in the Red Sea. Coalition spokesman Colonel Turki al-Malki said the alliance had on Wednesday responded to a distress call after a fishing vessel struck a mine in the Red Sea. Six Egyptian fishermen were on board, he said. Three were saved, while the rest perished from the blast. The Houthis’ continued use of naval mines poses a real threat to marine navigation and international trade in Bab al-Mandeb and the southern Red Sea, stressed Malki. He underlined the continued efforts by the coalition neutralize naval threats and mines, revealing that it had destroyed 137 explosives that had been arbitrarily planted in the Bab al-Mandeb and southern Red Sea areas.
