ARAR: Prince Faisal bin Khalid bin Sultan, governor of the Northern Borders Region, on Thursday chaired a meeting of the executive committee for developmental housing. Prince Faisal underlined the need to achieve coordination between the Ministry of Housing, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development and related nonprofit institutions to continue the committee’s efforts to provide appropriate housing units. “The program aims to help the most vulnerable groups in the community by offering them housing units and enabling them to benefit according to their needs and material capacities,” Prince Faisal said. The meeting reviewed the development housing targets in the region, which included the provision of 420 housing units, nongovernmental funding amounting to SR38.8 million ($10.3 million), and the establishment of two community and cooperative housing associations. The number of volunteers specialized in housing in the region reached 295 individuals.  The governor called for all important issues related to families in need to be included within the development housing plan so that effective projects to address them could be implemented. Prince Faisal highlighted the need to achieve financial sustainability in the field of development housing through benefactors, businessmen, and companies active in the field of community service. By eliciting support for projects of financial sustainability, the sector would be less affected by fluctuations in donations.
