RIYADH — The Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY) formed a joint technical team with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) to work with the Yemeni government. The decision to team up followed a meeting between the Saudi Ambassador to Yemen and the Supervisor General of the SDRPY Mohammed Bin Saeed Al Jabir and the Deputy Resident Representative Nahid Hussein, in the presence of the SDRPY experts and specialists. The aim is to set up development priorities with regard to the Yemeni situation nowadays, review efforts exerted by international to develop Yemen and to discuss measures taken to limit the fallout of coronavirus pandemic. In limiting the spread of coronavirus, the team hopes to mitigate its economic, health and social impacts, on Yemen and tackle challenges lying ahead of development action, by setting up common cooperation means, in appreciation of the role and significance of development and reconstruction, and their implications on the economic recovery of Yemen. In the meeting, the SDRPY highlighted future development aspirations and outlined key sectors like environmental sanitation, social protection, food security and health in which the program will launch its future projects. The two parties underlined the importance of setting up a transformation plan for work in Yemen in partnership with the Yemeni government and moving from relief work to development work using precise techniques, as the coronavirus pandemic has brought about a social change that calls for enhancing the technologies used in dealing with development work. — SPA
