Saudi Shoura Council Speaker chairs virtual session

The Saudi Shoura Council on Monday approved a draft system to effectively combat cover-up businesses in the Kingdom. Saudi Shoura Council Speaker Dr. Abdullah Al-Asheikh stressed the need to create awareness about the dangers posed by this illegal business practice and its negative impact on the national economy. The Shoura Council members added a new article to the existing law granting new powers to the Public Prosecution to get rid of the phenomenon of commercial concealment and help create a trading environment free of irregularities. In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency, Dr. Yahya bin Abdullah Al-Samaan, assistant speaker of the Shoura Council, said the implementation of the system will be carried out in coordination with the ministries of interior, trade and human resources and social development. The council, Al-Samaan, said also discussed the annual report of the Authority for the Care of Persons with Disabilities. The council called on the authority to activate the national electronic registry for persons with disabilities in coordination with the National Information Center and other relevant agencies to ensure all citizens get access to electronic services offered in different sectors such as health, education and social service. The General Organization for Technical and Vocational Training was also directed to prepare training programs for people with disabilities. The council called for the activation of a national program for donation and corneal transplantation. It also called on the Ministry of Culture to intensify its efforts to preserve the Arabic language and accelerate the establishment of professional cultural associations.
