Bahrain, US security cooperation discussed

MANAMA — Bahrain"s Interior Minister Gen. Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa received here on Thursday US Assistant Secretary of State for Political-Military Affairs R. Clarke Cooper and the accompanying delegation. Bahrain"s Coast Guard Commander Maj. Gen. Alaa Siyadi and US Embassy’s Chargé d"Affaires Maggie Nardi attended the meeting. The interior minister welcomed the US official’s visit aimed to promote strong and strategic relations between Bahrain and the United States, highlighting the importance of security cooperation and coordination between the two friendly countries. He asserted that Bahrain moves on to reinforce the democratic approach founded and backed by King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. The meeting reviewed the distinguished bilateral ties, topics of common interest, and ways to promote security cooperation to serve the two countries. US assistant secretary of state for political-military affairs and the accompanying delegation visited an exhibition organized on the sidelines of the visit. The event showcases samples of seized weapons and explosives used by terrorist groups from 2011 onward, including ammunition, grenades, bombs, and other tools used by terrorists to attack police personnel. — Bahrain News Agency
