Bahraini-Israeli environmental cooperation discussed

MANAMA — Bahrain’s Supreme Council for Environment (SCE) chief Dr. Mohammed Mubarak Bin Dainah met virtually on Tuesday with the Director-General of the Israeli Ministry of Environmental Protection David Yahalomi. They discussed bilateral cooperation in the environmental field. Dr. Bin Dainah welcomed David Yahalomi and the participants in the meeting, stressing the keenness of SCE on boosting the efforts of all countries supporting the international endeavor to face environmental challenges, mitigate the impact of climate change, and preserve wildlife. Dr. Bin Dainah noted that the meeting is held in preparation for signing a memorandum of understanding between the Supreme Council for Environment and the Israeli Ministry of Environmental Protection. He expressed hope the memo will enhance cooperation between both countries in the environmental field. The meeting shed light on a number of environmental issues of common interest and ways of boosting cooperation with the Israeli DeserTech center which is concerned with specialized environmental studies, climate change, and innovative technology. The Director-General of the Israeli Ministry of Environmental Protection lauded the efforts made by SCE to protect the environment, commending the common ground that paved the way for establishing bilateral relations to exchange experiences in various environmental fields. The meeting convened in the presence of SCE International Relations and Media Director Amena Hamad Al Romaihi as well as Senior Deputy Director-General for Policies and Strategic Planning at the Israeli Ministry of Environmental Protection Ghalit Cohen and Head of the International Relations Department Adam Schalimtzek. — Bahrain News Agency
