Saudi Arabia exerts great efforts to combat malaria and raise awareness globally

JEDDAH — The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has exerted great efforts in combating malaria and raising anti-disease awareness in various countries of the world, crowned by several successful experiences in this regard, an official report said here Monday. The World Malaria Day, which falls on April 25, comes as an opportunity to highlight the need to continue investment and mobilize political commitment to prevent and combat the disease in addition to increasing individuals" awareness to avoid infection in light of sharing the world their celebrations of this day. The government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman has made great strides in fighting malaria, leading to a considerable decrease in number of local infection, as well as complete halt of transmission of the disease in most regions of Saudi Arabia and consolidation of means of protecting the people from the disease. King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) has implemented strenuous efforts to get rid of or drastically reduce malaria in neighboring Yemen, which has suffered for many years from its outbreak among children and pregnant women, particularly in coastal areas. This prompted the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to extend a generous hand to help the Yemeni people by providing medical and preventive assistance to fight the epidemic. In this regard, KSrelief, the relief arm of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the World Health Organization (WHO), co-signed an 18-month executive program worth more than $ 10.5 million, including more than 50 activities and benefiting 7 million to combat malaria epidemic in Yemen. — SPA
