Prince Mohammed bin Abdurrahman, Acting Governor of Riyadh Region, attended a ceremony honoring the winners of King Faisal International Prize (KFIP) for the years 2020 and 2021, at Prince Sultan Grand Hall, in Al-Faisaliah Hotel on Tuesday. The Prize is held under the patronage of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman. The King Faisal Prize for Service to Islam for the year 2020 was awarded to the Makkah Charter, while the year 2021 Prize was awarded to Founder and Chairman of SAKHR Software Company, Mohamed bin Abdulrahman Al-Sharekh, for his role in supporting the research and innovation to preserve the Islamic heritage through modern technology. The Islamic Heritage of Alquds was chosen as a topic for the Islamic Studies category for the year 2020, which was awarded to Dr. Mohammed Hashim Ghosheh. The other winners were prof. Michael G. Carter, and Moroccan professor Mohamed Mechbal (Arabic language and literature); Stephen Mark Strittmatter, an American neurologist at Yale School of Medicine, and British professor Robin Franklin of the Wellcome Trust-MRC Cambridge Stem Cell Institute (co-winners in medicine); Prof. Xiaodong Wang, Director of the National Institute of Biological Sciences at Beijing, and Prof. Stuart Parkin, Director at the Max Planck Institute of Microstructure Physics in Halle, Germany,(science). The Islamic studies prize was not awarded this year. The ceremony was attended by Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Governor of Makkah Region; Prince Turki Al-Faisal; Prince Sultan bin Abdullah Al-Faisal; Prince Turki bin Abdullah Al-Faisal, Prince Mohammed bin Saud bin Khalid; Prince Khalid bin Saud bin Khalid, Advisor at the Royal Court; Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, Minister of Sports, and a number of officials. — SPA
