New York, Rajab 4, 1434, May 14, 2013, SPA - The United Nations Security Council last night condemned the attacks that occurred on Saturday in Turkey's southeastern town of Reyhanli in Hatay Province. The attack resulted in the deaths of 46 people and dozens of others were also injured. The Security Council expressed its deepest sympathy to its members and to the government and people of Turkey, offering sincere condolences to the families of the victims. In a statement, the Security Council stressed that terrorism in all forms and manifestations constitutes one of the most serious threats to international peace and security, and that any acts of terrorism are criminal and unjustifiable regardless of their motivation. Security Council members reiterated their determination to combat all forms of terrorism in accordance with the Council's responsibilities under the Charter of the United Nations. The statement highlights its responsibilities in ensuring that measures to combat terrorism comply with their obligations under international law. The statement also stressed the need to bring perpetrators, organizers, financiers and sponsors of these terrorist acts to justice.
