"The entire world community has an interest in seeing a Syria that is not engaged in sectarian war, in which the Syrian people are not being slaughtered, that is an island of peace as opposed to, potentially, an outpost for extremists," Obama told reporters at the White House during a joint news conference with British Prime Minister David Cameron.
