United Nations, June 15, 2010, SPA -- South Korea on Monday will present evidence to the U.N. Security Council which it says proves that North Korea was responsible for the sinking of one of one its naval ships, killing 46 sailors, Yonhap news agency reported Monday. North Korea denies the allegation and its ambassador will also meet with the Security Council on Monday, the news agency reported. South Korean officials told Yonhap that they were not seeking any new U.N. sanctions against the North, which is already under sanctions for its nuclear and missile tests. Officials have said that they want a stern council condemnation and warning against the North. Meanwhile, North Korea's U.N. envoy will give a rare press briefing to the U.N. press corps on Tuesday, a spokesman for the United Nations said on Monday. The briefing by Ambassador Sin Son-ho will take place at U.N. headquarters in New York at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday and cover "the current situation on the Korean peninsula," spokesman Farhan Haq told reporters. --SPA 11:36 LOCAL TIME 08:36 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/792619
