United Nations, Rabi'I 26, 1437, Jan 6, 2016, SPA -- The U.N. Security Council will hold an emergency meeting Wednesday to discuss North Korea's reported test of a hydrogen bomb, the U.S. mission to the United Nations said. Diplomats told reporters the meeting was scheduled for late morning in New York, or 1600 GMT, and that it likely would be held behind closed doors. "The United States and Japan have requested emergency Security Council consultations for this morning regarding North Korea's alleged nuclear test," Hagar Chemali, a spokeswoman for the U.S. mission, said in a statement. "While we cannot confirm at this time that a test was carried out, we condemn any violation of [U.N. Security Council] resolutions and again call on North Korea to abide by its international obligations and commitments," the U.S. statement said. --SPA 20:15 LOCAL TIME 17:15 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
