Washington, June 19, 2010, SPA -- The United States is working with the international community to support efforts by Kyrgyzstan’s interim government to restore order and deliver humanitarian aid, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Friday. “What we’re trying to do with many partners in the international community, including, of course, the United Nations, is to help support the provisional government,” the top U.S. diplomat said while meeting with visiting Foreign Minister Lene Espersen of Denmark. Washington’s goals are to “work with the international community to try to support the provisional government in bringing about a resumption of order, work with Uzbekistan …, [and] work to get the humanitarian aid in as quickly and comprehensively as possible,” Clinton said. Uzbekistan has opened its borders to tens of thousands of ethnic Uzbeks fleeing violence in neighboring Kyrgyzstan. --SPA 11:04 LOCAL TIME 08:04 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/793886
