Commenting on US-Iranian relations, the Riyadh-based Al-Jazeerah said the decision of Obama to extend the economic sanctions imposed on Iran means that Washington is not keen on improving its relations with Tehran soon. The paper noted that the statements spelled out by Obama don't indicate that he will overlook the Iranian nuclear program or the statements of the Iranian president about destruction of Israel. "Several times Obama has reiterated the commitment of Washington to ensure the security of Israel," it noted, adding that it will be difficult to predict the future of the Iranian-American relations prior to the Iranian general elections due to be held next June. "If the current Iranian president Ahmadinejad or any other radical like him wins the elections, then the bilateral relations will not be improved," it said.--SPA www.spa.gov.sa/644421
