Belgian premier discusses Mideast peace with Jordan's king

Amman, April 09, SPA --Belgian Prime Minister Herman Van Rompuy held talks Today with Jordan's King Abdullah II on means of advancing the Palestinian-Israeli peace process and building partnership ties between Jordan and the European Union, dpa quoted a royal court statement as saying. The discussions tackled "latest developments in the region andurgent Middle East issues including efforts under way to spur thepeace process", the statement said. "King Abdullah stressed the need for re-launching seriousnegotiations between the Palestinians and Israelis that lead to asettlement on the basis of the two-state solution," it added. "The monarch expressed Jordan's keenness on building up ties ofstrong partnership with the EU countries," the statement said. The Belgian prime minister is currently on a private visit to theHashemite Kingdom. Th British Foreign Secretary, David Miliband, was also in Jordanfor talks on Thursday.--SPA www.spa.gov.sa/652873
