Berlin, Nov 5, SPA -- German political leaders congratulated Barack Obamaon his election success Wednesday with Chancellor Angela Merkelsaying Berlin looked forward to working together in complete trustwith the new Democrat-led White House, reported dpa. "The world faces considerable challenges at the start of your termin office," Merkel said, with German President Horst Koehler andForeign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier also congratulating Obama onhis victory. In a letter to Obama, Koehler said he "could count on Germany as areliable partner and long-standing friend" as he faced up to thechallenges of office. Steinmeier said Obama had secured an extraordinary victory and hadduring his election campaign helped to reawaken an enthusiasm forpolitics.
