Kiev, September 04, SPA -- U.S. Vice-President Richard Cheney arrived today in Kiev, Itar-Tass reported. The U.S. vice-president was welcomed at Borispol’s airport by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Vladimir Ogryzko, U.S. Ambassador in Kiev William Taylor. Later in the day, the U.S. ambassador will inform Cheney about the situation in Ukraine. The U.S. vice-president is also expected to have an informal meeting with Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko. The official programme of Cheney’s working visit will begin on Friday. He will meet the Ukrainian president. Both parties intend to discuss “the state of and prospects for Ukrainian-American relations, as well as the settlement of the situation in Georgia, international security and the settlement of trans-Atlantic relations,” the Ukrainian presidential press service reported.--SPA www.spa.gov.sa/587473
