The Riyadh-based Al-Jazeera said nullification of pledges and agreements is not a new topic for the Israelis. The Israelis are accustomed to abrogation of agreements when they feel that that they have realized their goals and no longer in need of the agreements. The paper noted that Israeli premier Olmert was not genuinely seeking for appeasement, but actually he was trying to employ the Egyptians for the release of the Israeli soldier Shaleet as price for reaching an appeasement agreement, lifting siege imposed on Gaza and opening the crossings. Olmert is keen on attaining a personal victory prior to leaving the political scene by seeking the release of Shaleet who Israeli politicians and generals have failed to get him back. Shaleet is viewed by the Israelis as a kidnapped soldier, while the Palestinians view him as a Prisoner of War (POW) and insist that his release should be followed by the release of the Palestinians POWs and other Palestinians who were kidnapped by the Israeli occupying forces.--SPA www.spa.gov.sa/637449
