Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, December 13, SPA -- The Joint Saudi and Qatari Coordination Council will hold its first meeting here on Tuesday, under the co-chairmanship of Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz, the Interior Minister and Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Crown Prince of Qatar. Prince Naif is the Vice President of the Council. The Council is working on progress of bilateral relations in the political, security, financial, economic, trade, investment, cultural, media and other fields of common interest to the two brotherly countries and peoples, under the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and his brother, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, the Emir of State of Qatar. The first meeting of the Council will be preceded by preparatory and ministerial meetings to be held tomorrow and Monday to prepare for the draft agenda of the first meeting of the Council. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Qatar agreed on the 2nd day of the last Rajab month on the establishment of a "Council of Joint Coordination" between the two countries, headed by Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, Deputy Premier and Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General, and Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Crown Prince of the State of Qatar. The Saudi side at the Council's meeting is comprised of Prince Saud al-Faisal, the foreign minister; Dr. Mohammed bin Al Eiban, the Minister of State and a member of Cabinet; the Minister of Finance, the Minister of Culture and Information and the Minister of Trade and Industry. The Qatari side is comprised is comprised of Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem bin Jabr Al Thani, the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs (the Council's Vice President); Minister of State for Foreign Affairs; Minister of Economy and Finance; the Minister of State for Internal Affairs; the Minister of Municipality and Urban Planning and the Minister of Commerce and Trade. The Task of the Council is to develop the bilateral relations between the two countries in political, security, financial, economic, trade, investment, cultural, media and other fields. The Coordination Council is responsible for forging the general policy of cooperation and coordination between the two countries in all political issues of common interest and for promoting cooperation in the diplomatic and consular relations between the two countries with other countries as well as strengthening the closer security cooperation and promoting exchange of information in order to stabilize and strengthen the common security of both countries.--MORE www.spa.gov.sa/615992
