6 Afghan civilians killed in bomb attack

KANDAHAR, Afghanistan, August 08, SPA -- A roadside blast in southernAfghanistan killed six civilians Monday, while a Canadiansoldier died in another explosion in the same region,officials said. The six civilians, including a woman and a child, diedwhen their private vehicle hit a roadside bomb in Naw Bahardistrict of Zabul province, said district chief Zarif Khan. Two other civilians were wounded in the explosion, the Associated Press reported. Also in the south, a Canadian soldier was killed whenanother roadside blast hit a patrol on Sunday, the Canadianmilitary said. Sgt. Scott Shipway became the 97th Canadiansoldier to die in Afghanistan when his armored vehiclestruck a roadside bomb in the Panjwayi district of Kandaharprovince.--SPA www.spa.gov.sa/588349
