Islamabad, September 22, SPA -- Pakistan's role in supplementing the efforts of NATO in fighting the Taliban forces in Afghanistan has been praised by British Army Chief General Sir Richard Dannat. "Pakistan Army is doing a tremendous job in face of hostile elements and the territory and at the great cost of its soldiers and material," Dannat said during the course of an address to International Institute for Strategic Studies London as reported by the state-run Associated Press of Pakistan (APP). He delivered his 30 minutes presentation on the UK Armed forces role in Iraq and Afghanistan as part of the IISS Military Leaders Forum. Dannat recalled his recent visit to Pakistan and his 45 minutes meeting with President General Pervez Musharraf and said during their inter-action, he was given a clear analysis of the situation in the tribal areas of Pakistan and the aims and objectives of the Pakistani Army in that territory. He was confident that British forces strategy of patience in Afghanistan will eventually pay off though it may take a long time. He explained that British forces went to Afghanistan to extend the rule of the legitimate rule of the Government in Kabul to all parts of the land-locked country.--SPA www.spa.gov.sa/484737
