ISLAMABAD, PAKISTAN, AUG 13, SPA – Interior Minister Aftab Sherpao has underlined Pakistan’s role in foiling the London jet plot and said intelligence agencies showed timely and extraordinary efficiency in the performance of their duties.“The arrested key suspect Raashid Rauf, a British national, has been remanded to police custody for investigation,” the Interior minister told reporters. He said the suspect has made important disclosures, but these could not be made public for certain reasons. The Minister said that British Prime Minister Tony Blair has commended Pakistan’s role in frustrating the plot and called President General Pervez Musharraf to express thanks. Sherpao said Pakistan was playing an effective role in combating international terrorism and it has close contact and liaison with fifty countries of the world including Britain and the United States.
