Musharraf hails Pakistan's significant role in war on terror 2 ISLAMABAD

At a news briefing by the Pakistani and German defence ministers, Dr Franz-Josef lauded the frontline role of Pakistan in ongoing global war against terrorism and said the world holds Islamabad in high esteem. Iqbal said that Pakistan would get submarine from Germany for Pakistan Navy. Dr Franz-Josef said that Germany could not set timeframe for return of its forces from Afghanistan. "Our goal is to provide education, health and better facilities of livelihood to people living in Afghanistan", he said, adding that Germany would train 70,000 security personnel out of which 28,000 has been already trained. Dr Franz-Josef said that war against terrorism has entered a very crucial phase in which role of Pakistan cannot be neglected. He expressed satisfaction over the steps taken by Pakistan to tighten security at border with Afghanistan and flush out menace of terrorism from its territory. "We have lost our 1000 people, three murder attempts were made on President Musharraf and one on Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz due to cooperation of Pakistan in war against terrorism," the Pakistani defence minister said.--SPA www.spa.gov.sa/456496
