On the role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in supporting the political situation in Iraq, Prince Saud said the Kingdom has offered commitments to the Iraqis from the political and economic perspectives. In the political side, he added 'we have decided to open our embassy in Baghdad, and we hope to see the embassy open there so as to send our ambassador. No obstacles exist between Iraqi premier Noori al-Maliki and the Saudi Leadership, Iraq is an Arab neighboring country, and the kingdom will extend assistance to Iraq'. On her part, Rice welcomed the decision of the Kingdom to appoint ambassador to Iraq and said the Iraqi officials have voiced happiness for this decision. Rice pointed out that the Kingdom is part of the international accord for Iraq, and said it had participated in the conferences of neighboring countries on the Iraqi problem, and moreover it is involved in the talks about waiving off the debts of Iraq, and it has also been supporting the efforts of the Iraqi government. On the issue of reform and human rights, Rice said this issue is always on the agenda of president Bush and he is concerned about it.
