On signing the agreement of the National Identity Card by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Kingdom of Bahrain, Prince Naif said "this decision was taken years ago by the GCC interior ministers and it was approved at the GCC summit." He noted that similar agreements were earlier signed with Oman and the United Arab Emirates. "Soon, God willing, similar agreements will be signed with Kuwait and Qatar too." Asked why the GCC countries have not signed a joint agreement in this respect, Prince Naif said the geographical location of each state differs from the other. He reiterated the keenness of the concerned authorities in the GCC states to set simplified procedures, but taking into account the importance of the Identity Card. On the statement of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz to BBC in which he said that Saudi Arabia had provided Britain with information before the occurrence of the incidents earlier witnessed by Britain, Prince Naif said cooperation exists from the side of the countries to which Saudi Arabia provides information, adding that King Abdullah bin Abdul-aziz is the most truthful and sincere person. On signing an agreement for combating terrorism and organized crime by the Kingdom and Italy during the visit of King Abdullah to Rome starting later today, Prince Naif said it is a comprehensive security agreement which includes combating terrorism, drugs and money-laundering as well as exchange of criminals and information.--MORE www.spa.gov.sa/496691
